On December 24, in the Chisinau International Airport, after total renovation, the departure area for passengers was opened. It was extended with over 900 m2 and was completely rebuilt.

The renovation covered a total area of 4000 m2. Now the area has a new, modern and elegant design. The number of boarding gates and the number of security control points was increased, which allowed the capacity of the service to be increased from 420 to 750 passengers per hour. Along with the extension and reconstruction works, the water supply and sewerage networks, the electrical system, the flight information panels, the registration system of the passengers and luggage CUTE, the video surveillance system for access control, fire security system, ventilation and air conditioning system and the alarm system were completely renewed. At the opening of the new departure area, the passengers present in the room were surprised by performance of the famous vocalists of the Brio Sonores band, who delighted the people with their beautiful voices. Previously in November, the first segment of the departure area was opened. At the same time, the interior works in the other areas of the terminal continue, according to the reconstruction plan made by the Chisinau Airport administrator Avia Invest. Currently, the work is being done to increase the number of check-in counters from 12 to 18 and to double the number of check-in counters when passing the passport control. Currently, over 5700 m2 of terminal space are being renovated. It is important to note that all the measures have been taken so that the works do not affect the operational activity of the airport and the flight schedule. The architect Oleg Starostin, the Urbanproiect institute and the construction company Exfactor Grup are participating in the realisation of the plan for the extension and reconstruction of the terminal.
